  • What is Appalachian Dancing?

Picture
We are thrilled with our talented line-up of musicians, who are an integral part of the team.

Our fiddle players are Bob, Colin & Richard the first.  Our guitarist is Greg, with Tony on banjo. For bass we either get  Richard II with his fetchingly sober solid bass or Pat with her new toy - the bass banjo you see in the picture.  We are frequently joined by other musicians such as Alan, Ed & Lesley.

Several years ago, the dancers were getting a little restless having to put up with the Band with No Name.  The musicians were duly dispatched to the nearest hostelry, and told to stay there until they had chosen a name.  The band became "Fuggles", thanks to our road manager Gerald, who assures us it is the name of a variety of hops.  It has to be said, however, that the name hasn't really stuck.  They're still none too eager to admit to the name, but haven't yet been persuaded to invent another.

A new move for 2010 has been a uniform for the band.  Watch out for the blue shirts.  Has anybody caught them out in uniform on camera yet? {clue - there is some video evidence}
